- Ohio LB/DE Brandon Weaver’s sack on UNT quarterback Todd Dodge will leave the Mean Green’s QB out against Alabama this week. But that’s not the only significant injury North Texas suffered against the ‘Cats.
- Folks can talk about the guts of Frank Solich all they want, and understandably so, but how about Kent State coach Doug Martin guaranteeing a bowl appearance after KSU lost its star running back Eugene Jarvis to a lacerated kidney. “I guarantee right now we’re going to have a winning season, and we’re going to a bowl game,” Martin said, according to The Cleveland Plain Dealer. In his sixth season, Martin has yet to find a winning season. The ‘Cats welcome the Golden Flashes October 24th on Parent’s Weekend. Kick time is 2 p.m.
- The three-game MAC stretch—Miami on 10/17, Kent State on 10/24 and Ball State on 10/31—definitely looks a bit easier now for the Bobcats.
- The ‘Cats defense is tied for second in the nation with eight forced turnovers. Ohio forced two turnovers in their first two games last year.
- When was the last time Ohio’s defense had its three starting linebackers lead the team in tackles? Right now Noah Keller, Lee Renfro and Errik Ejike are 1-2-3 for Ohio.
- Former Bobcat safety Mike Mitchell had one tackle in his NFL debut for the Raiders last night in a loss to the Chargers.
- Kenny Jackson’s 69-yard interception versus UNT in the fourth quarter was just his third play in the game.
- Ohio had 14 penalties against the Mean Green, but just two of them came from the offensive line. The O-line had 5 infractions against UConn.
- Dustin Laudermilch is questionable for Saturday night’s game with a left knee injury. True freshman James Davis played most of the second half (17 snaps) at left guard after Laudermilch’s injury and after Vince Carlotta had allowed two sacks.
- The referees were slow and often questionable in the Ohio-North Texas game, but it was a Mid-American Conference crew.

- We are two weeks in to the college football season, and the only ’09 opponent for Ohio that remains undefeated is 1-0 Cal Poly. All other 11 teams have lost.
- In his Monday afternoon press conference, Ohio coach Frank Solich said RB Donte Harden was not completely healthy for the UNT game, but will be in better shape for Cal Poly. Chris Garrett, L.J. Flintall and Vince Davidson all had at least one carry last week.
- DE Dak Notestine’s seven tackles and Errik Ejike’s 9 tackles are both career-highs.
- Ohio still does not have a rushing touchdown and has not scored in the first quarter.
- Cal Poly was 4-for-6 on fourth down attempts in its win over Sacramento State.
- True freshman backup left tackle Jonathan Lechner was not one of the 74 traveling players on Ohio’s roster for the UNT game. True freshman safety Jeremy Green did travel.
- ‘Cats WR LaVon Brazill was not seen on offense or returning punts after the second of his two personal foul penalties against the Mean Green.
- Denton, Texas picked up 4.74 inches of rain from last Thursday through Monday, including nearly two inches on Saturday. The city averages 4.84 inches of rain for the entire month of September.

- Three Athens County H.S. football teams—Athens, Alexander and Nelsonville-York—are 3-0 to start the ’09 season. Logan is ranked 4th in the DII AP Poll. Alexander is picking up votes in the DIV poll and Nelsonville-York is as well in the DV poll.
