1-7 News and Notes

-  Speaking on his radio show, Ohio A.D. Jim Schaus on the 2010 football recruiting class: “We have a smaller class this year.  Probably going to scholarship 16 or 17 people instead of 24-25.  We just have a lot of people back.”

-  Here are a few of my favorite twitter-ers: OU alum Chris Littmann, who works for The Sporting News, ESPN’s Joe Shad, ESPN’s Adam Schefter (he doesn’t sleep, I swear), SI’s Seth Davis and for sports humor one of Dave Letterman’s writers, Eric Stangel.

-  It sounds like former Ohio University Defensive Line coach Carl Pelini will be getting an 80% pay raise as the Defensive Coordinator at Nebraska.  Pelini made $208,000 last year, and will now make $375,000.

-  In case you missed it, Ohio women’s hoops player Kamille Buckner is just 14 games in to her junior season, but she already has set the Ohio University all-time blocks record (116) after three stuffs last night.

-  The story on the Lady ‘Cats’ 4-10 start has been offense.  Ohio is 12th in the MAC in scoring and in free throw percentage (58%).

-  That’s a night Armon Bassett will remember for the rest of his life.

-  D.J. Cooper’s resume created that win.  His ability to be a legitimate threat going to the basket forced an IUPUI defender to move three or four feet towards Cooper—and away from a wide open Bassett.
