6-7-10 Why There’s Tons of Love in Athens
- Lots of congratulations to hand on the blog this time around.
- Kelly Brennan has accepted a job as a news reporter at WOWK-TV in Charleston/Huntington, West Virginia.
- Dan Lannon, who served as Director of Gridiron Glory this past fall, will be headed to Bristol to start a career with ESPN, where he interned last quarter.
- Speaking of ESPN, that’s where Ohio junior Alex Norris—next year’s Gridiron Glory Director—will be this summer in an internship position.
- Ohio juniors Brian Boesch and Brad Zahar were each awarded The Memorial Tournament Journalism scholarship on Tuesday in Columbus. Boesch also received recognition as one of the top collegiate sportscasters in the country by STAAtalent.com.
- Evan Shaw is still doing work, folks. Ohio University’s Director of Multimedia won a Telly for Videography/Cinematography thanks to his work during the 2009 Ohio football season. Shaw won a silver-level award—the highest of the national awards.
- Shaw has also been nominated for two Emmy’s. The first is for his sports features from the 2009 football season when Shaw provided “A Closer Look” recap videos like this one. The second Emmy nomination is for sports editor, a composite video of his work through the entire year. Shaw defines a linchpin—invaluable to the Athletics Department.
- Ohio A.D. Jim Schaus tells me workers have been painting and updating the west side stands inside Peden Stadium.
- Loving the new Ohio football commercial, which can be seen on OhioBobcats.com.
- Here’s a cool read on the connection of former Ohio assistant coach Carl Pelini (now Nebraska Defensive Coordinator) and Fort Scott Community College.
