-  Rivals.com three star power forward David Chadwick(6-8, 210) from Latin High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, took an unofficial visit to Athens last Monday and Tuesday.  Ohio offered Chadwick three weeks ago after the July recruiting period ended.  Chadwick also has offers from George Mason, College of Charleston, Furman, American, Rice, Liberty, Wofford, and Valparaiso with interest from Tulane and Washington State. June ’08 Blog Notes

-  In case you missed it Part II: $1.8 million deficit for 2009 fiscal year in athletics department

-  An excerpt from the second article: “One problem area in the budget is in intercollegiate athletics, which is planning for a $1.8 million budget deficit in the 2009 fiscal year, which begins on July 1.

Rebecca Skillings, director of budget planning and analysis, told a Trustees committee meeting Thursday that new Athletics Director Jim Schaus has been charged with finding ways to increase revenue and decrease costs in the department in order to eliminate this deficit. The ways to increase revenue, she said, may including holding more fundraising programs and activities, increasing advancement/development activities, and scheduling more home contests in order to bring in more revenue and decrease travel costs.”

May ’08 Blog Notes

-  Congratulations to Bobcats to-be junior outside hitter Ellen Herman.  As you may remember, she was competing in Atlanta the last few days on a national team she was selected for a while back.  Her USA A2 Red team won the USA Adult Open Championship, and Herman was named the MVP.  She absolutely blew away the field at a very competitive event.  Click Here to read more.

-  I’m admittedly not a volleyball genius, but new Ohio volleyball head coach Ryan Theis was extremely pleased about the prestigious accomplishment.  Hopefully Theis and the girls can keep the winning atmosphere going in Athens next fall.  Having a standout in Herman definitely won’t hurt their chances.
